#poem The Hand-Off

I remember the
XXth Century
Strangely enough
& threshers
In the fields
& pieces of
Uniforms still
On the farmers
Turned from soldiers,

(But never did they
Beat their swords
Into plowshares;
Never did we
Share, for all that.
Never did we

Cease studying war;)
I remember the
XXth Century,

Strangely enough,

And the farmers
Turned to dust,

Raising the future
Like bales of hay
Too heavy—Here

Take this to
Another century
Destroyed.
