#Tao te Ching 61

A great nation

Is like a low spot:

All streams run to it.

Consider that the low

Is superior to the lofty

Even though the low

Might seem weaker.

Thus it is that a great nation,

By bowing to small nations,

Gains their friendship, and

The great nation becomes greater.

The great nation cares only

To unite and feed people;

The small nation cares

Only to gain what it needs.

Greatness lies in lowliness.
