from The Handbook by Epictetus

34.

When you think about
a pleasure, prepare
to be disappointed.

Take it slow.
Think about how
it will feel and how

you will feel
afterward.

Then think about how
you will feel if you abstain.

Think about the pleasure
of doing it,

and about the pleasure
of not doing it.
